Location Florence, Italy; On sale June; Price £26,000 (est); Engine 4 cyls, 2191cc, turbocharged, diesel; Power 173bhp.. Here’s where the CX-5 comes good, because it remains one of the best mid-size crossovers to drive, even though competition in this arena has become ever sharper. The steering can be a touch odd at times, with slightly inconsistent weighting and a tendency to become absurdly heavy during parking manoeuvres, but that aside, the CX-5 feels rather wonderfully poised and deft to drive. OK – it’s a tall SUV with space for five and a diesel engine, so it’s not going to give its cousin, the MX-5, any trouble on a twisty road – but by the standards of the class it’s good. May 18, 2017. Mazda certainly turns out compelling products. The CX-5's 0 to 60 mile-an-hour sprints happen in just under eight seconds. The Honda CR-V and Kia Sportage offer turbo power that the Mazda can't match. CX-5 delivers a harmonic driving dynamic that is second to none in class
The steering and gearshift (we’re testing the six-speed manual) are both great to use and reminiscent of the MX-5’s polished controls, although not quite as sharp and precise. A point of interest here: the manual override for the automatic gearbox is orientated the correct way around - downshift by pushing forwards, upshift by pulling back, like a race car’s.If you’ve recently sat in a Mazda6 saloon or an outgoing CX-5 then there’s going to be little inside the new car to complain about, but equally nothing about which to become much excited. The instruments and switches are basically ported over wholesale from the 6, and while there has been an attempt at some styling interest by lining up the perfectly symmetrical air vents, there’s nothing much else in the cabin to really excite the eye. Mazda CX-5 2017 Review. Is a new body and cabin and more tech and refinement enough to keep the MkII CX-5 ahead of the mid-size SUV pack? The thing with the CX-5’s pricing is that your view of it depends very much on your view of the Mazda brand. If you think Mazda can mix it with the premium boys, then it’s excellent value, offering a lower price than the likes of a BMW X1 or Mercedes GLA, but with more space and often with better performance for the money too. If you think of Mazda as a more mainstream brand, then it has some issues.

It offers athletic handling, a luxurious interior, and a spacious passenger cabin While it sticks very closely to the template of the original 2012 Mazda CX-5, the new version makes some useful improvements, especially in terms of refinement. It’s also roomy, practical, has Mazda’s usual strong build quality, looks a little sharper than before and has an excellent 2.2-litre diesel engine. It does lose out a little with a poor petrol offering and a price tag that is a little high compared to such rivals as the Seat Ateca and Nissan Qashqai. 2017 Mazda CX-5 Review. All have front-wheel drive and offer all-wheel drive as an option
There’s plenty of grip too – especially in AWD models. Counter-intuitively, our front-driven test car seemed more responsive and keener to pick up and go on the corner exit, while the all-wheel drive version felt a bit bogged down. The exterior looks like a rehash of the current model, and it's a similar story with the interior. The dash gets the free-standing infotainment screen we've seen on other Mazda models, and the HVAC vents now feature a different shape. Other than that, though, it appears the cabin design carries over from last year's model.

Quality levels are very good, as they always are with Mazda, and if some of the materials aren’t exactly up to Audi levels, then at least there’s nothing wrong with the way they’re put together. The seats are clearly borrowed from the Mazda6 too — they have the same sensation of being too tight across the shoulders at first, but there seems to be enough give in them to become more comfortable over time. Mazda has introduced its G-Vectoring control system, already in use in the 3 and 6, to the CX-5. It’s essentially a torque control system that alters the engine’s output to help make the steering a little sharper, the turn in to corners a little quicker, and also to help keep the car a little more stable on a motorway. It works well, or at least we assume it does, as it’s all but impossible to detect it working — which is just as Mazda has intended. The new car also produces slightly more CO2 – blame the weight of the extra sound-proofing and a real-world efficiency tuning for that, says Mazda. Our test car has the lowest emission combination, and it puts out 132g/km.Mazda has an excellent reliability record, with the company rated very highly on Warranty Direct's Reliability Index and several of its models winning awards for their durability. Obviously, the caveat is that this is a new model, so it’s difficult to predict its performance with absolute certainty. Given it's based on proven mechanical components, we can’t see any reason why it should perform differently to the rest of Mazda’s carsAnd that’s a problem, because the CX-5 is the manufacturer’s most popular SUV - and its crossovers combined account for 40% of all Mazda’s sales. As you’d expect, this means the second-generation car is an exercise in marginal gains, rather than full body makeover.
Research Mazda CX-5 pricing and get news, reviews, specs, photos, videos and more - everything for Mazda CX-5 owners, buyers and enthusiasts The CX-5 comes with a three-year, 60,000-mile warranty, a three-year paint warranty, 12-year anti-perforation warranty, and needs to be serviced every 12,500 miles. Mazda has a three-year inclusive service plan with prices starting from £499.
The CX-5 uses Mazda’s i-ActiveSense safety package, which adds a forward-facing camera and a millimetre-wavelength radar so the car can automatically brake to avoid a collision from speeds as high as 50mph. It also has a pedestrian detection function, and works in reverse at slow speeds too. After driving Mazda's all-new CX-5 for the first time in petrol form earlier this month, it's now time to get behind the wheel of the diesel model, which While the top-spec CX-5 XDL goes for 1.77 million baht, the CR-V equivalent costs 1.699 million baht. One reason for that price difference is taxation The new Mazda CX-5 is a crucial car for its maker. Not only does it fall into one of the world’s most competitive segments, SUVs, its predecessor has been a key asset in helping the firm's sales in Europe surge by 60 percent in the past five years. The success or failure of this second-generation car could quite literally set the course of Mazda's future.Despite the debate surrounding diesel-engine emissions and their impact on air quality, for now at least, the lower-powered front-wheel drive diesel car is expected to be the best seller. It averages 56.5mpg and emits 132g/km of CO2, but if you want the added reassurance of four-wheel drive traction, fuel consumption drops to 52.3mpg, while the CO2 emissions rise to 142g/km. Expect a further drop of around 4mpg if you add an automatic gearbox, which, when many autos are just as economical as their manual counterparts these days is difficult to fathom. If fuel economy is a priority, we'd avoid the petrol model. Although it looks pretty good on paper - returning 44.1mpg and emitting 139g/km of CO2 in the official tests - you’ll need to work it very hard to extract any kind of performance, so you’ll be lucky to get anywhere near that figure. One area where the CX-5 excels is resale values. These are high because the car is very sought-after as a used buy, thanks to being sold in relatively small numbers and having a great reputation for reliability, which makes you wonder why Mazda only provides a three-year 60,000-mile warranty.

For that reason, those looking for strong design and a functional interior may be drawn to the more mainstream Tiguan, which costs from £23,140, or the cheaper still Nissan X-Trail - although the latter falls short on driver engagement. The BMW X1 doesn't, but it's less a conventional SUV and more a crossover, although its £27,850 entry-level price still arguably makes it a rival for higher-spec CX-5s.
The new car’s structure is 15% stiffer than the old CX-5’s and the chassis gets the brand’s clever G-Vectoring Control (GVC) technology. The system adjusts engine torque in response to steering angle to optimise the vertical load on each wheel, lessening the need for the driver to make steering corrections. It also makes the car feel agile and quick to respond to direction changes and, when coupled with the optional four-wheel drive, means cross-country pace is highly impressive. 243 reviews. 2017 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD Review - Crossing Over In Style. Interior quality is good, and the dashboard in particular is a great example of simplistic design. However, the CX-5’s interior just falls short of class-leading rivals in other areas, with the standard of stitching on parts of the seats, for example, not quite up there with the Tiguan. However, Mazda says quality will be improved slightly when the car enters production in April. Mazda CX-5 takes SUV styling to a whole new level of refinement and craftsmanship. The CX-5 handles like a big hatchback, although with a degree more bodyroll than you’d get in a Mazda 2 or 3 owing to those high sides. Although it will lean in corners, body movements are kept in check for a car of this size - it feels well controlled rather than marshmallowy. With a combination of eye-catching design, engaging handling and Downsize This capacity engines, the Japanese manufacturer has tapped into the priorities of the collective petrolhead consciousness to offer a pleasing alternative to mainstream austerity-autos.

The petrol 2.0-litre engine’s 41mpg average will be closer to 30mpg. The CX-5 is a handsome, practical, neat-handling SUV that offers plenty of space for all the family; and, if you choose the right engine, it’s also a strong performer that should provide faithful service for many years. . It didn’t offer kit that was becoming everyday-standard in this segment, like a powered tailgate or proper head-up display. Mazda CX-5 Change Vehicle. Unlock Ratings. With the redesigned CX-5, Mazda retained most of the sporty handling that made the first-generation enjoyable, but the SUV is much more mature now with vastly improved ride comfort, noise isolation, and interior quality
Things certainly look good at first glance. The outgoing CX-5’s soft, cuddly exterior has been swapped for a sharper, more mature design that borrows lines from the stunning RX Vision concept shown at the 2015 Tokyo motor show. This trend continues inside, where clean Japanese design and soft-touch materials are located alongside a generous list of standard tech that includes a 7.0in touchscreen with sat-nav as standard.Compared to the firmer-riding Tiguan, the CX-5 is more supple over bumps and on par with the Nissan Qashqai, but when pushed it flaunts better body control than the cheaper Nissan and ultimately this makes it feel more like a warm hatchback than an SUV. There is some body roll in corners, of course, but the CX-5’s handling is composed and its ride comfortable. Mazda CX-5 (2020) in-depth review. The Mazda CX-5 introduced the world to the Kodo design language in 2012. Not only was the CX-5 easy on the eyes, it was also a fun-to-drive breath of fresh air in a segment nearly devoid of excitement. A lot has changed in the compact crossover class since then, and the CX-5 is evolving to keep up with its competitors. The 2017 Mazda CX-5, which debuts at the 2016 Los Angeles auto show, is the first of a new generation but hasn't strayed too far from the original. NEW CARS > Mazda. 2017 Mazda CX-5. A fun to drive crossover may sound like an oxymoron but that is what Mazda wants you to believe with the second-generation CX-5 There’s no getting away from the fact that the likes of the Seat Ateca and Skoda Kodiaq are roomier and cheaper, and the Volkswagen Tiguan is similarly priced, but arguably has a superior brand image. Prices for the CX-5 start from £23,000 for a petrol model and £25,000 for the 150hp diesel, but it does help that there are just the two, well-equipped trim levels, which does allow Mazda to claw back some of the price advantage of some rivals.
It’s too early to call the new CX-5’s reliability, but Mazda has fallen in the JD Power ratings, coming only one place above Fiat in 2016, which is only one place above the industry average. That said, in the past, Mazda has proven itself a maker of solid, reliable cars, so we’ll give the CX-5 the benefit of the doubt for now.. The Mazda CX-5 was among the first compact SUVs to offer such a system that can help avoid a frontal collision or minimize damage by automatically braking when a collision appears..
The CX-5 is the first European Mazda to come with a power-operated tailgate, which kind of shows you that Mazda has spent the past few years concentrating on the fundamentals (creating and then developing its SkyActiv range of engines, chassis, and gearboxes) and expanding its model range, rather than on fripperies and optional extras.Cliches often don’t stand up to scrutiny but here’s one that is very much on-point: Mazda doesn’t make a bad car. Emissions are a little high as well — the 150hp diesel is now rated at 132g/km, where its predecessor managed 119g/km in some versions. 2017 Mazda CX-5 Review. More Than Just a Facelift. This is the same styling introduced on the 2017 Mazda CX-9, albeit on a much smaller scale. It also happens to better suit the CX-5's smaller proportions, and looks far less frumpy — particularly around back The fact that you can control it as a touchscreen or using the iDrive-style click-wheel between the seats is useful, but that’s about as good as it gets. The navigation system is also quite suspect, and more than once has sent us on a needless diversion on tight and slow backroads, when a longer journey on main roads would actually have been quicker. At least the head-up display has been improved.
The boot is square, flat and pretty free from obstruction, but it’s almost surprisingly small. It offers just 506 litres of space below the parcel shelf and only 1,620 litres packed to the roof with the rear seats folded. There’s also no seven-seat option (although Mazda is working on a three-row CX-8 for the US and Japanese markets, so that may come to Europe eventually). While the CX-5 is just about practical enough for day-to-day family use, you can snap up a far more spacious Skoda Kodiaq or Peugeot 5008 for less money, which shows where the CX-5 falls short."One of the best SUVs you can buy, thanks to its smart, practical interior and its excellent handling...”Mazda is well aware of this, so rather than resting on laurels and gently evolving its Volkswagen Tiguan rival, the firm’s designers and engineers have worked to offer improvements in nearly every area. They claim boosts in design, interior quality, performance and driving dynamics, so despite having a near identical footprint and dimensions to its predecessor, the 2017 model is a very different proposition. The 2.0-litre petrol engine is one of very few modern engines without a turbocharger to boost its power. And this is a glaringly obvious omission, because unless you’re revving it until it sounds like the pistons are about to explode, it’s flatter than a pitta bread. With a notable lack of low- and mid-range grunt, it’s at its most frustrating when encountering an incline or when asked to summon up some additional overtaking zip. Because it’s so much stronger, especially at low- and mid-range revs, the 2.2-litre 148bhp turbodiesel engine is a far better bet. Don’t go thinking it’s perfect, though. Although it is generally smooth, it’s prone to generating a fair bit of vibration at lower revs; and, although it's reasonably flexible at lower speeds, you still need to give it a good old kick in the pants, and make sure you’ve got plenty of clear road ahead, when attempting to pass an ambling grocery van on a twisting B-road. If you can afford the premium for the stronger, 173bhp version of this engine, then it will be money well spent. Not only does it feel instantly more alert and infinitely more flexible, it’s almost as economical and far more refined than its lower-powered sibling.
Брать Mazda 6 или CX-5 That’s really shown up by the CX-5’s infotainment system. The 7-inch screen that juts, BMW-style, from the centre of the dash, is an inch too small (at least) and a day (or year) too out of date. While Mazda refers to it as a colour screen, few of the displays go beyond grey, light grey and red, and the menu layout and graphics look very old hat. Watch our Mazda CX-5 video review. The CX-5's slim headlights and chrome grille give it an upmarket look. You can get the Mazda CX-5 with one petrol and two diesel engines. Pay a little extra and you can have an automatic gearbox and four-wheel Mazda. CX-5 (2012-2017). RRP. £22,375 - £31,580 The CX-5 may be priced and specified to go head-to-head with the Volkswagen Tiguan, but the Mazda is a bigger vehicle, especially where it counts. Being slightly wider and a good bit longer means it provides more elbow room and a lot more legroom for rear-seat passengers. Granted, the rear seats can't slide back- and forwards in the same way they do in the Tiguan, but at least the Mazda’s backrest can be reclined by a few degrees to help your passengers catch forty winks. The CX-5 also has a properly big boot, with a 506-litre capacity that expands to 1,620 litres when you fold down the 40/20/40-split rear seat backs. These can be flipped down in a trice by using handles just inside the boot and they lie almost flat once they are down, so it’s a relatively easy task to load longer items. Make the jump to Sport Nav trim and you also get a powered tailgate that can be controlled remotely via the key fob.
The 2017 Mazda CX-5 is available with two engines, however only one will be underhood when the crossover goes on sale this spring. 2017 Mazda CX-5. Fuel Economy. The CX-5's official numbers dipped slightly from last year, although the new CX-5 is still efficient for its class Mazda is making only minor changes to the CX-5 for 2020. The company's i-Activsense suite of driver-assistance features is now Its cargo volume actually decreased with the 2017 redesign; a 2016 CX-5 we tested held one more carry-on with the rear seats up and three more with the rear seats folded Given the massive growth in SUV sales, along with the vast improvements in interior design and myriad technical upgrades that these vehicles have gained in recent times, it's no surprise that Mazda has gone to considerable lengths to upgrade to the CX-5’s interior. That said, although it is a significant upgrade, the revamped cabin is no better than what you have a right to expect at this price, and it doesn’t look or feel quite as premium as the Volkswagen Tiguan's. Positives include an excellent range of adjustment for both the driver’s seat and steering wheel, and everything you touch – such as the leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearlever – are of nice quality. Likewise, the panels are solidly screwed together, and the rotary control that let’s you scroll through the infotainment menus is handily located and good to use. Notably, the infotainment screen now sits on top of the dashboard, but although it looks more like an afterthought, it’s much quicker to react and easier to focus on than the one in the previous CX-5, which was integrated into the dashboard. Upgrade to Sport Nav trim and you also get a head-up display that appears in the windscreen. It's very easy on the eye and the instructions are easy to follow when used in conjunction with the sat-nav. Der Mazda CX-5 ist ein Pkw-Modell des japanischen Automobilherstellers Mazda. Overall, the CX-5 covers the boring stuff off well, with plenty of leg room in the back and lots of head room. There's also an electric tailgate on certain models. The best aspect is from the front, where you can really appreciate the lower bonnet line (which Mazda claims makes a significant contribution to improved aerodynamic performance), the slimmer lights and the radiator grille with its floating, almost 3D-effect. The rest of the body is subtly unadorned, as Mazda said that it wanted to follow Japanese tradition of styling by removing, rather than adding lines. It’s hard to give a definitive verdict until we’ve seen the standard equipment list and prices, but in isolation the new CX-5 improves upon the old one in all the key areas that you’d expect from a car clearly aimed at more upmarket buyers. All this tech talk translates beautifully on the road as the Skyactiv-D powered CX-5 presents itself as the ultimate version of Mazda's compact crossover
The new CX-5 was developed with the goal of creating a vehicle all can enjoy—even the passengers. The compact crossover gets Mazda's corner-smoothing G-Vectoring Control for the driver's enjoyment, but the cabin prioritizes passenger comfort and quietness. The powertrain lineup for North America will include the Skyactiv-G 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter gas engines, which make 155 hp and 184 hp, respectively, in the outgoing crossover. That said, credit to Mazda’s styling team, although it’s similar the new CX-5 does look sharper, more attractive and, dare we say it, more premium than before. It is worth mentioning the CX-5’s new-found refinement. Mazda’s engineers were visibly proud when they first pointed out the car’s noise, vibration, and harshness suppression measures to us and they’re right to be — engine (thanks to a clever piston design, created to help keep clatter and rattle to a minimum), tyre, road, and wind noise are all clamped down upon, and the result is a very calm, quiet, and relaxing cabin. The CX-5 Mk1 could arguably be called the car that saved Mazda, as its strong sales helped prop up the Japanese company's balance sheet in the years immediately after Ford sold off its shareholding in the firm. Little surprise then, given that there’s an understandable reluctance to mess with success, that Mazda has reused the same ‘SkyActiv’ platform and chassis as the original and the new CX-5 initially looks little different.Mazda’s old HUD, with its pop-up plastic monocle, was fine, but always seemed to be set about two inches too low.
